Similar to how the IG-less BrightSpeed Scanners work, The GRE console on all 1.X-5.X scanners with only one IG can be configured to reconstruct images using the DARC when the IG fails. This way down time can be avoided and the customer can scan and reconstruct images at 3 frames/second until a replacement IG is put in place.
When you do step 1 you can do a more INFO (enter) this will bring up the file in the INFO folder, most of the files have setenv just like in step 2. You scroll down until you see setenv IGNUMLIST 1|3 to confirm what your system has. Now to change the 3 to 0 you will type in the following command;
Follow the below steps to make that happen:
1) cd /usr/g/config <enter> gedit/INFO <ENTER> (use gedit locally or vi editor remotely)
2) Change the 3 by 0 in this line setenv IGNUMLIST 1|3
Now it should read setenv IGNUMLIST 1|0 (this allows the user to select 1 IG or 0 IG in the hardware tab in reconfig GUI.
3) Shutdown applications and log on as super user (root) in a Unix shell
4) reconfig
5) Click on config button
6) Under the hardware tab, select 0 for number of IG from the drop down
7) Click ACCEPT
8) Reboot
9) Startup applications form a command shell
When the new IG arrives, install it and power up the console and stop applications
10) Stop applications from starting
11) Repeat steps 4 - 6 but now select 1 from IG list
12) Repeat steps 7 through 9
13) Scan the water phantom to verify reconstruction. Now the system reconstructs images at 6 frames/second
